MANCHESTER WATER WORKS LAND
LITTLE MASSABESIC AND TOWER HILL

We have recently been made aware of an area of concern on land owned by the Manchester Water Works at the Little Massabesic and Tower Hill Trail Systems.  Concerns have been raised about the amount of horse manure, hay and trash being left at the parking areas at Clark Pond on Depot Rd and the Auburn Safety Complex on Raymond Rd.

These are multi-use trail areas that are heavily used by equestrians as well as hikers and mountain bikers.  Although the general trash is not all our fault, the manure and hay are.  Please make sure that you clean up your area before leaving and make an effort to clean up other trash left behind by other users.  Also make an effort to "curb" your horse on trail when manure is dropped to keep it out of the way of other users.  We need to lessen our perceived impact on these trails.

We will be initiating a program to work with the Manchester WW, the Town of Auburn and other trail users to help control and clean up the situation.

This is an important trail use area.  The land and trails are under the control of the City of Manchester Water Works, a utility, and trail use is by permission only so we need to work with the MWW to maintain a multi use status.
